Nemesis is a Child of Light appearing in the Giantslayer Trilogy by Amber Jayne. It possessed the unique power to read souls directly, and was actively hostile towards the Gods in their rebellion against the Titans.

In Rat in a Corner
<blockquote>Spoilers ahead, naturally</blockquote>
Nemesis appears in the three "Epitaph" chapters of Rat in a Corner, where it uses its soul reading abilities to track and hunt other children of light. It is shown to defeat Zeus in single combat with little difficulty. At least two children of light have been slain by Nemesis.

This article is a stub, for now. Hi, Amber here, I'm holding off on adding any significant amount of info to this page until Rat in a Corner has been out for a little while.

Alcippe is a demigod and the main protagonist of the Giantslayer Trilogy by Amber Jayne. She is functionally an android, transplanted into a talos body after sustaining irreversible injuries to much of her body and nervous system.

This article is withholding a lot of information, for now. Hi, Amber here, I'm holding off on adding any significant amount of info to this page until Rat in a Corner has been out for a little while.

Project Talos
Originally designed to be a more advanced successor to standard Nymphs before Zeus's mandates against advanced AI rendered it obsolete, the talos platform has been modified to instead house and interface with Alcippe's soul.

Project Talos is highly classified, and the true nature of the talos is not public knowledge, known only to a handful of Gods and mortals.

The Handmaiden-class
This class of eidolon was an early project of Aphrodite's, highly compact at under three metres tall, in essence a highly advanced exo-suit or power armour. Like the talos platform it was abandoned in the early years after the Titanomachy, due to their vulnerable size and their supportive role being made obsolete by drones. Alcippe's Handmaiden was made viable only thanks to the usage of orichalcum in its design, and is thus never expected to be replicated. Despite its incredibly small size, the metal allows it to sustain direct blows from other eidolons and even colossi an order of magnitude more massive than it.

Castor & Polydeuces
Alcippe's pet rats, named after two honoured pilots who once served in the Contingent of Thunder. They're believed to be escaped lab rats, with white fur and red eyes. Alcippe found them in her apartment and captured them, building an enclosure and caring for them rather than having them exterminated. She regards them as her sons.

Aliki is a character from the Giantslayer Trilogy by Amber Jayne. She is a second-year cadet at the Agoge and a Hephaestean acolyte of the Daedaleion.

Aliki is a talented artisan of multiple fields, especially those involving metalworking. She has been shown to be familiar with goldsmithing in addition to engineering especially regarding eidolons and nymphs.

In Rat in a Corner
Aliki first appears in chapter 4 of Rat in a Corner, where she unwittingly tests the Handmaiden-class eidolon in its first battle. She favours a Retribution-class.

Erebus is a primordial entity appearing in the Giantslayer Trilogy by Amber Jayne. While her true nature is unknown, she was older than the Titans but worked in tandem with them before the Titanomachy, functioning as a thirteenth Lord of Elysium. Her domain was Tartarus, in what is now known as the Underworld.

Erebus lacked a physical body in the typical sense. She manifested as a thick shadow, with porcelain hands emerging from the gloom.

Tartarus
Erebus's laboratory was located here, which amongst other things produced orichalcum, a highly powerful alloy whose methods of creation are now unknown.

Erebus lacks a physical body in the typical sense. She manifests as a thick shadow, with porcelain hands emerging from the gloom.

Demigods

2026-08-14T14:40:18Z

Amber Jayne: Made it again AND REMEMBERED THE S

Demigods are a broad category of mortals who exist in Elysium, set apart from most humans by some manner of direct connection to the Gods.

The most typical instances of demigods are blessed humans and clones, but half-gods also exist in the setting's expanded works.
Blessed humans
In certain cases, mortal humans earn the favour of the Gods and are blessed with unique modifications that raise them above human limitations. The most typical of these are holy cyborgs, such as the Cerberus Cadre, exhibiting exceptional strength and reflexes along with cosmetic modifications such as hue-shifting nanocarbon skin. Additionally, some citizens hail from bloodlines blessed with genetic modifications, such as Herakles.

Mortals blessed in these ways are generally held in high regard, often taking up their own rung in society above most people. Many hold esteemed positions, including honoured pilots, military captains, and even rockstar celebrities.
Clones
<blockquote>Main article: Clones of Demeter</blockquote>
The Marks exist in Elysium as a social underclass. They lack citizenship, and their only legal protections are those relating to the contracts of their trade. Despite their social position, they often exhibit extraordinary abilities: Marks Two capable of growing plant life from their bodies at will; Marks Three meanwhile are holy cyborgs enhanced with superhuman strength and reflexes.
Half-Gods
<blockquote>Note: this section concerns worldbuilding unique to certain parts of the Gunmetal Olympus expanded setting, and (thus far) has not appeared in the "main series" works of Maria Ying.</blockquote>
Under incredibly rare circumstances, mortals are born as partial descendants of divinity. Such births are generally impossible, as the Gods are incapable of typical reproduction.

Half-gods are hardier than mortals, with an unnaturally high regeneration factor and the ability to survive outside Elysium's dome without protection. They also tend to exhibit similar unique powers to their divine parent.

There are currently only two established half-gods, appearing in the Giantslayer Trilogy and Madness in Her Art.

Clones of Demeter

2026-08-14T14:38:23Z

Amber Jayne: Fixed some typos, made a few minor phrasing updates, and turned Demigods into a hyperlink to the page I just made

Overview
The clones of Demeter are vat-grown, artificially created biological humanoids. Sometimes referred to as Demigods, they are created from a template which is improved in iterations, called Marks. There are currently two Marks in common usage, with the fourth being reserved for special cases.

Clones are birthed fully formed with implanted information and memories, using a secret process known only to the Lord Demeter. Along with the artificially implanted memories and knowledge, clones are also augmented with electrical aids; such as implants to improve labour, higher logic reasoning as in the Mark Four, or other unspecified upgrades.

Despite the upgrades, clones are specifically biological life, in accordance with Lord Zeus's edict on the creation of artificial intelligence.

When a clone is killed, they are returned to the estate of Demeter to be used as fertilizer, in order to further the growth of crops.

The Marks
Mark One
Mark Ones are not seen regularly, as they were cycled out of production by the time of Persephone. However, descriptions indicate they were not as advanced as their later siblings; at one point conversing with a Mark One was described by a Mark Three as "A fiber optic cable talking to a bundle of copper."

Mark Two
The most common Mark on the market, the Marks Two are primarily used in a servile role, especially sex work, or as common labourers. Marks Two were also known to possess exceptional abilities with plant-life, sometimes shown to be able to conjure or create flowers from their bodies.

Mark Three
Marks Three are primarily used in a combat capacity, used as either security or bodyguards for the chosen elite.

One Mark Three, Adrastus, is the former pilot for Lady Demeter's Eidolon, having been raised from birth for said role. Unlike previous Marks, he was birthed from the vat as a child, raised using human methods rather than the implanted memories of his siblings.

Mark Four
The Mark four currently consists only of the Lady Persephone, the first of her template. Not only does she have a physical prowess greater than the previous marks, but she has shown a vast suite of cyber-warfare implants that allow her unfettered control of Elysium's systems. This allows her to be a skilled eidolon pilot, and a skilled tactician.

She is currently in the employ of Lord Hades.

Notable Clones
Lady Persephone - Mark Four

Khrysothemis - Mark Two

Lord Adrastus - Mark Three

Ligeia - Mark One - General Consul to Adrastus

Khloe - Mark Three - Butchmark

Melita - Mark Two - Doctor Old Lady Cigarettes

The Persephone Effect</ref> She has asthma, and is in a relationship with Cedalion of the Cerberus Cadre.

Appearance
Madalithea is slight in build, with striking red hair, uncustomary among the faithful of Hades, who traditionally blacken their locks in devotion. Her eyes are soil brown. She wears the vestments of Meténeion and a golden colored cypress pendant as both symbol of faith and signifier as a woman who made her own gender.

Personality
Self-deprecating, sincere, and prone to anxiety in unscripted social situations. Her speech is formal and confident in ceremonial contexts, where she has long excelled; in personal conversations she falters and stammers under stress. Socially, she tends to misread friendly pressure as coercion, anticipates rejection with pre-emptive self-destruction, and is prone to shame spirals she has difficulty talking herself out of. In her best moments—she is funny, warm, and capable of defiant joy.

Madalithea enjoys baking and frequently does so for her Sisters and Cedalion.
